Learn How to Go From Frustrated Telescope Owner to Accomplished Backyard Astronomer
Have you owned a telescope for a while but never managed to see Saturn with it, let alone a stunning Galaxy?
Did you just get your telescope and haven't the first clue where to start?
Well, first of all, you are not alone!
It is perfectly normal for novice telescope owners to feel confused and frustrated. In fact, the the biggest reason people give up on astronomy altogether is they have no success in finding night sky objects they had hoped to see.
This Beginner's Guide to Backyard Astronomy course is designed specifically to take you every step of the way from setting up your telescope and choosing the best place to do astronomy, to seeing your first views of planets and deep space objects.
Every Astronomer Should Enjoy Seeing Beautiful Nebulae and Awesome Galaxies
Following this course you will see detailed views of the five brightest planets in our solar system, six different galaxies, plus another six different nebulae.
On the way you'll also discover the best way of choosing eyepieces, how to measure distances with your hands, how to plan your own astronomical evenings and the star-hopping method all astronomers use to find those glorious but faint deep space objects we all enjoy seeing.
The step-by-step backyard astronomy course that shows you how to enjoy your telescope tonight... and for years to come.

Andromeda Galaxy is the brightest galaxy in the northern hemisphere. It is 2 million light years away, contains over one trillion stars, and YOU can see it with your telescope.
Module Five shows you how.
What Does the Course Cover?
There are over 40 detailed guides in this course. Each one is written so you can easily follow along, even if you have zero experience using a telescope.
These are the five core modules and what they cover...
The Five Modules
Each of the five core modules are designed to walk you through every aspect of backyard astronomy.
You'll start off learning the essentials that every astronomer needs in Module 1: How to Get Ready for Backyard Astronomy. It covers magnification, eyepieces, fields of view and picking an observing location. Don't worry though, it's done in a way that's easy to understand and will help you throughout your time as an astronomer.
Next, in Module 2: Getting Hooked. Seeing Your First Amazing Sight we break off from theory and have a rewarding look at the moon. Because, let's face it, what all of us as astronomers want to do the most is see glorious views through a telescope.
After that, we go to Module 3: How to DO Backyard Astronomy. This module is all about helping you find your way around the night sky. There's guides on where and how to find the planets, how to do star hopping, the constellations that are visible all the time and it covers a dozen seasonal constellations too.
Oh, and you'll also learn in module three how to plan your own night sky sight-seeing expeditions and the essential backyard astronomer skill of star hopping.
The last two modules are the most exciting. Everything from here on in is about getting outside, under the stars and using your telescope to see jaw-dropping views.
In Module 4: The Bright Planets you'll enjoy detailed guides to seeing Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn. Each planet's guide tells you exactly when to look for it, including a pdf calendar for easy reference. You also get seeing challenges for each planet, ranging from easy to tough so you can improve your astronomy skills over time.
Finally, you'll leave the solar system and travel off into deep space. Module 5: A Year of Deep Space Objects is all about helping you see galaxies, nebulae and star clusters.
There are 12 guides covering 15 objects in total. Each guide has detailed finder maps that come with detailed, step-by-step instructions for tracking down those tricky, faint deep space objects.
Amongst others, you'll get to see The Cat's Eye Galaxy, The Ring Nebula, The Leo Triplet of Galaxies (yes, there are three to see!), The Swan Nebula, Andromeda Galaxy, The Dumbbell Nebula, The Whirlpool Galaxy and the Trifid Nebula.
As well as these five modules there is an introduction section to help you get started and a sixth module which is packed with helpful astronomy resources.

Your Instructor
I've been a backyard astronomer for many years now, and have been steadily improving for all of them! In 2015, I created the popular website LovetheNightSky.com which helps over one thousand astronomers every day.
I was motivated to create this course because so many people tell me that their biggest frustration with astronomy is finding the objects they're searching for.
My mission with The Beginner's Guide to Backyard Astronomy is to help every budding astronomer learn to enjoy using their telescope as much as I do.
So, in this course, I've shared with you dozens of tools, tricks and techniques that will help you go from a beginner to stargazing like the professionals.
